About Our Clinic

Lakeland Family Eyecare was established in St.Paul by Dr. Trevor Pilipchuk in June, 1998. Trevor was born and raised in St. Paul and is grateful for the opportunity to come back to his hometown and serve the community.

Dr. John Melenchuk originally pioneered the optometric practice in 1951 and worked diligently at it until his retirement when Dr. Pilipchuk took over.

Lakeland Family Eyecare is dedicated to making your experience with us a pleasant and rewarding one. Our Optometrists provide full comprehensive eye examinations to patients of all ages. Our state of the art equipment allows our doctors to provide an accurate prescription of your eyes and to detect, diagnose and treat ocular health and vision problems.

As well, Lakeland Family Eyecare is one of a few select clinics in the province that has a digital retina camera. This amazing instrument takes pictures of the back of the eye and magnifies the picture over 1000X so our doctors can study your retina accurately to better detect any eye diseases or health problems such as high blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol problems. For our glaucoma patients, Dr. Pilipchuk along with a group of Optometrists recently purchased the latest glaucoma technology called a “HRT”. The Heidelberg Retina Tomograph (HRT) uses a laser to allow us to get two- and three-dimensional images of the posterior of your eye and then performs a three-dimensional topographic analysis of the retinal structures. In particular, laser scanning tomography as realized in the HRT allows us to quantitatively assess the optic nerve head topography. Because the sensitivity of this instrument is so great, we can now detect glaucoma far earlier than before, which allows us to begin treatment and prevent vision loss.

Our dispensary contains high quality, functional and stylish frames to choose from. Our Opticians and Optometric Assistants are trained to help you choose the most appropriate frame and lenses to best suit your needs.

We offer contact lens services for experienced and new contact lens wearers. Our doctors determine the best lens for you and our trained staff educate you on insertion and removal and lens care. We carry a large variety of contact lenses such as daily disposable, toric lenses, colored, bifocal and many more!

Lakeland Family Eyecare consists of three optometrists: Dr Trevor Pilipchuk, Dr. Brad Olineck and Dr. Neil Hodinsky; our always friendly receptionists Cathy, Rhonda and Amanda; optometric assistants - Sue, Lisa and Brandi; our licensed optician - Lana; our computerized vision testers - Brenda, Cheryl and Katie; our Finance Coordinator - Joanne.
